Silk Mill
Petaluma, California
Hospitality
The Petaluma Silk Mill is a local and national historic landmark. The original Mill building was constructed in 1892 and is the sole remaining industrial era brick mill building in the Bay Area. Listed on the National Landmark of Historic Places, the project proposed an adaptive reuse of the existing mill building into a 70 room Hampton Inn with a restaurant and numerous other amenities. The project strives to be as environmentally sensitive as possible. Beyond the obvious green benefits of adaptively reusing the existing structure, we are incorporating cutting edge water and energy conservation strategies (Thom is this still applicable?). The goal is to create a lasting legacy that will be a benefit, not only to the guests of the hotel, but to the whole community. (website in process)
